Gilles Michel, 52 years old, began his carreer with the World Bank as industrial economist. He joined Saint-Gobain in 1986, where he held various positions in the group including Chairman/Chief Executive of US-based subsidiary Ball Foster Glass, followed by Chairman of the Ceramics and Plastics Division and member of the Group Executive Committee. Gilles Michel moved to PSA Peugeot Citroën Group in 2002 where he was a member of the Executive Committee, followed by Director of Platforms, Techniques and Purchasing, then member of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Management Board and Chief Executive of Citroën.
Gilles Michel is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE and Sciences Po. He joined the FSI in January 2009, to become chief executive.
